Cut Your Work In Half With Assets by Geoff Blake (posted May 17, 2006)

Shockwave: If you have any Macromedia Director movies you’re using (or other files saved in the Shockwave format) the Asset panel will list them here.

Movies: Any videos that are a part of your site will be listed here. Highlight your movie, and click on the green play button to preview them. Cool!

Scripts: Unless you’re working with separate VBScript or JavaScript files in your site, this category will remain empty.

Templates: If you make use of templates in your site, head to the Asset panel, where they’ll be listed and ready for action.

Library: Libraries are such a huge topic, they get an entire section of their own in Ten Ton Dreamweaver. Head for Chapter 5 see libraries in full effect.

To place an asset onto your page try this:

  1. On your page, place your insertion point where you’d like the asset to appear.
  2. In the Asset panel, using the icons on the left, navigate to the category where your asset is stored, then select it.
  3. At the bottom of the Asset panel, click the Insert button.

The asset is placed onto your page. A faster way to inset an asset is to simply drag and drop it onto your page from the panel.
